George Cook of Lincoln, Missouri, regained the title of Missouri State Champion at the Missouri State Checker Tournament held at Windsor, Missouri, on April 17^th and 18^th at the Windsor Senior Center. He held the title in 1992, 2003, 2007, and 2008. Congratulations, George, on your win! Also, congratulations to Larry Pollard of Alabama who won the tournament.

We had a small group of ten players -- eight from Missouri, one from Alabama, and one from Illinois.

Our thanks go to Wayne Miller (and wife, Wilma) for obtaining the Senior Center for the tournament and providing delicious strawberry and cherry pies; Donna’s Restaurant for donating a pie; George Cook for donating a huge “checker” cake; and Wilma Wolverton for providing donuts and coffee.

George Cook, Wilma Wolverton, Harry Taylor, and George Stallsworth contributed to the prize fund. Thanks to all for making it a successful ty.
